Roberts Mūks Pret straumi Austrumu reliģijas - Meditācija - Cikliskais laiks Roberts Muks PRET STRAUMI PRIEKŠVĀRDS Latviešu sabiedrībā - rakstos un runās - šodien tiek piesauJkti vārdi "garīgums" un 'humānisms" tik bieži un tik dažādos kontekstos, ka tie kļuvuši it kā par lozungu cīņā pret visu veco, izkurtējušo, noraidāmo. Šai grāmatā sakopoto eseju nolūks nav oponēt pret garīgumu vai apšaubīt humānisma vērtības. Galu galā šie jēdzieni taču ir neatņemama daļa no rietumu kultūras pamatstrāvojumiem kopš klasiskās senatnes. Rietumu cilvēks savā intīmākajā satversmē nav iedomājams bez substancialas garīguma un humānisma devas. Ne par velti jau Aristotelis definēja cilvēku kā racionālu dzīvnieku. Bet tieši šai punktā mums jāsastopas ar zināmām grūtībām. Proti, garīgums Rietumos lielākoties tiek identificēts ar racionālismu - ar dzīvi vai dzīves veidu, ko vada un nosaka t.s. veselā saprāta diktētie imperatīvi. Nav tomēr šaubu - un uz to norāda jau sen piexastas runas par rietumu kultūras krīzi - ka racionālisms im ar to saistītais "humānisms" ir vismaz daļēji atbildīgs par atsvešinātības un bezcerības sajūtu, kurā Ir iestidzis rietumu pilsonis. Blakus šim sekulārajam profanajam garīgumam var runāt ari par sakrāla rakstura garīgumu, ko parasti identificē ar kristiānisma ideāliem - ar ticību Dievam, ar tuvākmīlestībii, nesavtīgumu utt. Būt garīgam šinī gadījumā nozīmē pieņemt "gara. pasaules" prioritāti visās dzīves nozarēs, tai pašā laikā uzskatot "matēriju" un visu, kas sastāda materiālās eksistences komponentu, ja ne gluži par zemākas pakāpes realitāti, tad vismaz par kaut ko aizdomīgu, neīstu vai pat bīstamu. Kristiānismā - vismaz tā tradicionālākajos izpaudumos - pastāv tieksme attīrīt garu, atbrīvojot to no "miesas" slazdiem. Austrumu reliģijas ir racionālas un humānistiskas tādā mērā, kādā tās nebalstās ticībā dievam, aizkāpa dzīvei un citiem atklāsmes dotumiem, bet tanī pašā laikā tās nekad nav eksaltējušas prātu kā cilvēka augstāko un cēlāko dāvanu vai kā viņa cilvēciskuma specifisku izpausmi. No austrumu viedokļa, bez prāta cilvēkā potenciāli iemājo sava veida saprāts (viedība), kura uzdevums ir kontaktēt neduālus eksistences stāvokļus viņpus racionālisma un empīrisma - stāvokļus, kuros gars un matērija, ieskaitot diskursīvo domāšanu, tiek transcendēti un mēs spējam redzēt lietas to tiešamībā vai tādībā - līdzīgi bērnam, kas uzticas visam, ko viņš pirmo reizi ierauga. Šādu nostāju var nosaukt par garīgu - ar noteikumu, ka mēs nepiešķiram šim vārdam "nemateriālu" vai kādu citu spocīgu kvalitāti. Visas lietas ir garīgas vai, labāk, apdvēseļotas, ja tās skata ar jēdzieniskās (dualistiskās) domāšanas un kaislību neapmiglotām acīm. Austrumu reliģijas piedāvā "vidus ceļu" starp racionālismu un ticību, starp ideālismu un materiālismu, starp "jā" un "nē", starp tumsu un gaismu, starp dzīvi un nāvi. Bet tas nav kompromisa ceļš, tieši otrādi, praktizēt austrumu reliģijās proponēto dzīves veidu nozīmē peldēt pret straumi, ja ar vārdu "straume" mēs saprotam ordināro dzīves, domāšanas un jušanas Stilu, kādā lielais vairums cilvēku rod paliekošu apmierinājumu. Protams, ir pilnīgi iespējams, ka rietumu cilvēkam austrumu reliģijas to dziļākajā būtībā nekad nebūs pilnīgi pieejamas, ka šis cilvēks - ņemot vērā viņa apzinīgo un vēl vairāk - neapzināto iesakņotību kristiānisma un sengrieķu gara pasaulē - vienkārši nav spējīgs sagremot austrumu dzīves dziņu un ka tāpēc viss, ko viņš var, ir labākajā gadījumā ar to vairāk vai mazāk aizrautīgi flirtēt. Varbūt šodien ir pavēries pilnīgi jauns ceļš, jauna reliģija - ticība zinātnes - tehnoloģijas - industrijas progresam. Taču - ja arī tas tā būtu - austrumu reliģiskās atziņas, būdamas neatņemama daļa no cilvēces garīgā pūra, var tikai paplašināt mūsu horizontu un tanī pašā laikā kalpot kā aizsargvalnis pret visa modernā nepārdomātu akceptēšanu - vismaz tādiem, kas vairs nespēj veidot savu dzīvi tradicionālā kristiānisma ietvaros. Gribot negribot mēs dzīvojam reliģiskā plurālisma laikmetā, no kā izriet, ka kaut kāda cilvēciska vienība vai vienotība var eventuāli iznirt tikai no daudzveidības (ex pluribus unum). Varbūt tas tiešām tā ir, kā to saka mistiskie austrumi, proti, ka visi ceļi ved uz vienu un to pašu mērķi, pretim vienai virsotnei un ka šī virsotne (Dievs, dievība) iesniedzas tādos augstumos, par kuriem labāk ir nerunāt (klusēt), lai priekšlaicīgi nenoreibtu.
